Education

In 2006, I proudly earned my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Bluefield University. Fueling my commitment to continuous growth, I later achieved a Master of Arts degree in Executive Leadership from Liberty University in 2015. This educational journey has not only been a personal achievement but has become the cornerstone to empower individuals and contribute to the betterment of communities and organizations.

‌Education, for me, is more than a degree; it’s a catalyst for positive change. The knowledge gained has shaped my perspective and deepened my dedication to fostering excellence, both on an individual level and within the broader community. I look forward to leveraging this educational foundation to serve, inspire, and contribute to the advancement of our school system.

Professional Experience

My dedication to the Chesapeake community is reflected in my illustrious 25-year tenure with the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office, culminating in my retirement in 2021. Throughout my career, I held the position of a certified DCJS weapons and General Instructor for 20 years, underlining my unwavering commitment to training and safety within our community.

‌After 25 years in public safety, my cultivated attributes segue into a useful awareness of keeping our schools safe, both proactively and reactively. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table for SCHOOL SAFETY! School safety is not just a priority, it is a non-negotiable necessity. I am ready to collaborate with the Chesapeake School Safety Alliance contributing the safety and well-being of our students, teachers, and staff.

In 1991, my journey of dedication to service commenced with my enlistment in the NAVY. Stationed at Naval Base Oceana, I proudly served in the VA85 attack squadron attached to the USS America. The experiences and challenges of my military service instilled in me the core values of discipline, teamwork, and a strong work ethic—principles that continue to shape and guide my endeavors to this day.

‌The invaluable lessons learned during my time in the NAVY have become the bedrock of my character, influencing my commitment to excellence and service in every aspect of my life. As I embark on this new chapter, I carry with me the spirit of duty, camaraderie, and hard work instilled by my military background.

Family Life

Chesapeake has been my cherished home for the past 28 years, and within its embrace,‌ I’ve had the privilege of raising two remarkable children—My daughter, a proud

graduate of CPS and Old Dominion University, is on a fulfilling journey, making a positive impact as a first-year English teacher at Corporate Landing Middle School in Virginia Beach.

My son, currently navigating the exciting landscape of 9th grade at CPS, is already contributing to our community as a dedicated member of the football team and JROTC.

Family Values

I hail from a family deeply rooted in the pursuit of knowledge and coaching; a heritage cultivated in my home state of Arkansas. My brothers, alongside their wives, share a collective passion for education. Our family’s legacy is one of fostering learning, growth, and the empowerment that comes with a solid educational foundation.

My family background has instilled a profound commitment to champion a quality to education within Chesapeake schools.

Witnessing the transformative impact of education on my own family has fueled my dedication to ensuring that every student in our community has access to a first-rate educational experience.
